In the flexible packaging industry, PE (polyethylene) roll film is one of the most fundamental materials. However, different products demand vastly different physical properties, barrier performance, chemical resistance, heat sealability, and static control. Leveraging years of formulation R&D expertise, BiSheng Packaging has developed specialized PE roll films for frozen food, sauces & condiments, laundry detergent, and powder products – truly achieving “one formula for one application, one performance for one need.”
Core philosophy: There is no “universal” PE film – only the “best-fit” formulation. BiSheng customizes from molecular structure control, additive incorporation, and co-extrusion technology, enabling PE roll films to perform optimally in specific scenarios.
Frozen Products – Low-Temperature Resistant PE Roll Film
Application challenges: Frozen foods (meat, seafood, dumplings, ice cream, etc.) are stored at -18°C to -40°C. Ordinary PE films become brittle, crack easily, lose impact resistance, leading to bag rupture and leakage.
BiSheng solution: Utilizing metallocene linear low-density polyethylene (mLLDPE) blended with LDPE, plus low-temperature toughening agents to maintain excellent flexibility and puncture resistance even at sub-zero temperatures. The sealing layer formulation is also optimized to ensure heat seal strength does not degrade under cold conditions.
· Performance metrics: Low-temperature impact strength ≥ 300 J/m (ASTM D3420), elongation at break retention ≥ 85% at -30°C.
· Typical applications: Frozen dumpling pouches, vacuum bags for frozen seafood, ice cream composite roll films, frozen ready-meal outer packaging.
Sauces & Condiments – Acid-Resistant & Oil-Resistant PE Roll Fil
Application challenges: Hot pot base, chili sauce, vinegar sachets, oil packets – these contain high concentrations of organic acids, capsaicin, and oils. Ordinary PE films are prone to corrosion, swelling, delamination, odour migration, and even leakage.
BiSheng solution: Adding acid-resistant modifiers and antioxidant additives to PE resins, with a three-layer co-extruded structure: inner layer of high-barrier acid-resistant resin, middle toughening skeleton layer, and outer abrasion-resistant protective layer. Crystallinity is also adjusted to reduce affinity for polar solvents.
· Performance metrics: After acid resistance test (5% acetic acid, 60°C × 24h), tensile strength retention ≥ 90%, heat seal strength retention ≥ 85%; oil resistance test (vegetable oil, 60°C × 48h) shows no swelling or delamination.
· Typical applications: Roll films for hot pot base, sauce pouches, vinegar/soy sauce liquid packaging, instant noodle oil sachets.
Laundry Detergent / Household Chemicals – White Opaque PE Roll Film (High Light-Blocking & Anti-Permeation)
Application challenges: Liquid detergents, fabric softeners, dishwashing liquids – these contain surfactants and fragrances that are light-sensitive and can oxidise or evaporate through ordinary PE film. Also requires good printability and shelf display appeal.
BiSheng solution: Incorporating high-quality titanium dioxide (TiO₂) and opacifying masterbatch into PE resin to produce high-whiteness, high-opacity opaque white PE roll film. Opacity can exceed 99% to effectively protect light-sensitive ingredients. Slip and anti-static agents are carefully balanced to ensure smooth filling operations.
· Performance metrics: Opacity ≥ 99% (UV-Vis 300-800 nm), whiteness ≥ 85% (CIE), surface tension ≥ 38 dyn/cm to ensure printing adhesion.
· Typical applications: Stand-up pouches for laundry detergent, refill packs for dishwashing liquid, shrink labels for fabric softeners, household cleaning liquid packaging.
Powder Products – Anti-Static PE Roll Film
Application challenges: Milk powder, protein powder, flour, chemical additives – during filling and transportation, friction generates significant static electricity, causing powder to adhere to film walls, seal contamination, reduced filling accuracy, and even risks of electrostatic discharge or dust explosions.
BiSheng solution: Dispersing permanent anti-static agents (non-migratory type) evenly in the PE formulation, reducing surface resistivity to 10⁹~10¹¹ Ω to effectively suppress static build-up. Inner layer coefficient of friction (COF) is also optimised to ensure smooth powder release.
· Performance metrics: Surface resistivity ≤ 1×10¹¹ Ω (ASTM D257), static decay half-life ≤ 2 seconds. Anti-static effect is permanent and unaffected by humidity.
· Typical applications: Roll films for milk powder, protein powder bags, flour packaging, chemical additives, pet food powders.
